A Murder of Crows progress

This is the drawing that eventually evolved into this work. I usually take an idea and do several sketches of it until it is solid enough to translate into something that will work on fabric. I am thinking of also doing a similar version of this idea using fabric inks on a lighter background. My first vision of this though was to do a black on black with red outlines. Thus the Murder of Crows began.
The outline is long done and the inside shapes have been embroidered with black DMC cotton floss. Now I am adding some texture to the crows with hand stitching. Slow going but it adds so much to this piece. As I write this I have finished the quilting of ten crows. Three more to go and then it is on the the background. Progress photos will be posted when I get to the background.
The title does not refer to any actual murder of crows. No birds were harmed in the making of this work..a finger or two perhaps was pricked by needles but no birds....A murder of crows is the term for a group or flock of crows.
