Harvest Time

This Fall weekend found us passing by golden fields of corn.

While we didnt need any hay, my soul felt joy at the trust in people.

Apple picking time at the orchards

We were led out of the corn maze by my brilliant 11 yr. old grandson or I fear we might be there still...

yumm! can't you just taste these beauties?

Gourds of all kinds, colors, shapes.

Pumpkins too! And rabbits and goats to feed and pet.
I am still sewing away on what are now three different projects. Two of which I will be showing here soon.

Summers nearing an end

Can it really be September all ready? It has been unusually cold here this last week, though it is supposed to warm up by the weekend. With a chill in the air to remind me to embrace these last days of summers warmth I have begun to notice the signs of fall all around the pond.
The leaves are turning from summers greens into falls golds and reds . The deer have grown antlers as the rutting season begins.
Flocks of birds I rarely see in these woods gather as they pause on the way south. The trees alive with the sounds of Jays sounding the alarm as I walked about.

Evidence of Geese passing through and leaving behind little treasures for wilderness collectors to happen upon.

Even a pair of Loons spent a lazy day diving for fish . A special treat for me to watch!

Yet the blooms of summer still spread a fragrant scent with the cool breeze. While I do enjoy these changing seasons of the Midwest, I wish summer would hang on just a bit longer this year.
