Steady and Slow
The Maiden and the Trout has been taking a backseat lately. I needed a good break from the purple hair. It is a bit further along than this photo shows but not by much. I did find some time to do a few quick spring postcards. Hopefully by the end of this week I will have some real progress on the Maiden. We shall see. Two of these postcards are not yet fully finished but I had the camera ready with a bit of time to capture them as they were at that point.

The quilt festival!
It has been a very busy weekend here. On Friday I went to the Chicago International Quilt festival. What an amazing collection of quilts and people! I didnt take my camera so I have no photos to show but Dubi of dubiquilts has a wonderful group of photos on her blog at..http://dubiquilts.blogspot.com/
I was blown away by all the really beautiful works. The show set up was done very nicely with it seeming to be set in a more gallery type of vision than I remembered from previous shows. This did a lot to get me to review my opinions of the big venues quilt shows.
I met so many people! Everyone was friendly and many of us shared pictures of our works or even some of the post cards and small quilts we brought with us for that purpose. I brought along my small quilt ' I dreamed I live on a sea turtles back' after being asked to so that it could be seen in real life. I never did manage to connect with her as she was unable to arrive before I needed to leave. But, I did share it with some other people and probably should be abashed at myself for my shameless "wanna see my quilt?" LOL. Of the people here on the web ring I only met Frieda who was very gracious despite trying to eat her lunch. Oh yeah, she got to see the quilt too...sorry if I put you on the spot there Frieda!
I was very taken with Emily Parsons quilts. They are so beautiful and even more impressive when viewed up close. The quilt by Judy, of painted threads, that is in the current issue of Quilting Arts magazine was there and it is as stunning as I thought it would be. I did buy some of the tsunikeo inks to give them a try. Will post on that at some point in time when I can play at it!
