I am almost done with the Maiden and the Trout. I will post photos when the work is all done.
All ready I have plans for the next one in the works. Plus experimenting with other techniques with the sewing machine.
This is the beginning of the busy time of year for me so I do want to get started on something soon, before getting all bogged down with other aspects of my life.
Photo here is of a work that did not quite end up as I wanted it to. A learning experience for me. I know I have many of these that don't measure up to standards. Each work, however badly done, brings to me knowledge that will be useful on the next ones. Life and art, for me , are all about learning. If we cant learn from our mistakes we will indeed repeat them over and over.

you are so right about learning from mistakes. it is good to read this from another artist, it always pains me to make a mistake.
I like the colours in this picture, looking forward to seeing the end result! enjoy your fall, soak it up :)
Machine quilting can be a challenge! Did you figure out how to achieve what you had in mind?
Paula,
I still hate to make mistakes but thats what seam rippers are for, right? As with all things, sometimes a mistake turns into a wonder that would never have been made if I didnt try something different and new. Never Fear Art!!
Nellie,
This one above is suffering from bad piecing first of all. Wonky basting second. It is an older sample from my very earliest attempts at quilting. Now I know that I must cut with careful measurements. Baste taut. While Machine quilting is still a bit of a challenge but I am so much better at it then I was when this one was made! As it has been said, Practice, practice and more practice!
It looks nice to me. I dont see mistakes!
But yes, we need to learn from our mistakes.
I think it is perfect.
ciao ciao
I whole heartedly concur. If everything is going right, you get very little out of the experience, It is only when something goes awry and you need to problem solve that you extend yourself and learn.
Having said that, I really like this piece. The colour contrast to the black background is wonderful.
Hi!
Thanks for the beautiful, inspirational images and the lovely thoughts about art and mistakes. It really all is a learning process.
You work is wonderful.
