I DREAMED I LIVED ON A SEA TURTLES BACK

This is one that I have finally totally really finished. I love the turtle but have issues with the woman who lives on its back. The original drawing was a bit better then what came out with the stitching. I think it was pulled some and then distorted as I went on. Ah well. I tried to fix it, but, I just ended up adding some more beads and stuff. I have it hanging up where I dont see it much (hence the bad angle shot) and that way I wont be tempted to try to fix it even more!

New York Beauty

Diane posted pictures of her cinco de mayo quilt blocks on her blog. I had to laugh as she described how long it had taken her to get to that point and how she was done with the paper pieced blocks. I had so much fun with picking out prints and color combos on my New York Beauty blocks. But after doing so many I really understand what she was saying! The unquilted top hangs as it is on my living room wall. A glorious hunk of wild color that I love looking at but have not steped one inch closer to finishing it. Yes, someday I will finish it and hang it back up but I am not there yet...need more time to be away from all those tiny points! I love the Karen Stone blocks that Diane did. I had not seen these before I started my top... thankfully! Those look oh so much more complicated.

Sunflower

Started this one. This is a detail. The finished size will be 18x60". Still needs stem and leaves.
Painted fabric. Fused the sunflower. Thought about doing needle turn for the flower but I would like to finish this before the next decade. I ran into the bad wonder under with this. What a mess! After laboriously peeling away small bits I found if I laid a wet cloth over the paper and let it sit for a minute or so, the paper peeled away fine leaving the fusing behind where it belongs. I think I may also have a bit of the newer wonder under as it feels thicker then this batch. Have not used this newly bought batch as yet. But I certainly will test it first and return it if it is a bad one.

RED!

This is the only Red quilt I have ever made.It is several years old now. about 22" around.
Red is such a strong bold color. I find I shy away from it in my works. But look out there. its everywhere! Lets hear it for RED. Now, show me your red quilts!

You Are Apple Red
You're never one to take life too seriously, and because of it, you're a ton of fun.And although you have a great sense of humor, you are never superficial.Deep and caring, you do like to get to the core of people - to understand them well. However, any probing you do is light hearted and fun, sometimes causing people to misjudge you.
What Color Red Are You?

from the sketch book

just a couple of things in my sketchbook. At some point and in some way they will eventually make it into a quilted work
The first one is part of the forest muses series and the second one is of another series that I have not posted pics of as yet.

painted fabric

finally found time to get some fabric painted, this is about a yard for the darker blue and about a half yard for the lighter blue of muslin painted with fabric paints. I havent totally solidified the final ideas for what it will be used in as yet. But I am thinking and drawing things out.

Sunset cranes

This is the inspiration that brought about the idea for the cranes. The area where these cranes are is right next to a busy two lane hwy. I managed to pull over on the only side road near it, and though the shoulder did not exactly provide the best spot for photography I did manage to get a few quick shots before the sun set. Amazing that there is not a pull off somewhere to enjoy this! Turns out the marsh lands here are man made and were the work of the former owner of the land. Now it is a public land but without benefit of park or parking. Too bad if you ask me!

The crane quilt is done. After trying a number of different ways to finish off the bottom edge I ended up just quilting it to the edge and leaving it as it was. Facing it didnt work. it just made alot of bulk and the edge looked off. layering another grass edge almost worked but then the design looked off. So it is what it is. Not as polished as I would have liked it to be. but, as with all works, I have learned what I will do if this situation should arrive in another piece. Perfect I do not pretend to even come close to or for that matter need to!
I was going to get some fabric painting done but we had some Huge storms go through here last night and this morning was spent doing the clean up. I had to use the snow brush to get all the leaves off the car~ hopefully tonights predicted repeat will be wrong and I can breathe a sigh of relief. Our trees stayed up and the windows didnt break from the ping pong size hail. I surely do not want another night like that!
